Training sign-off before booking
Core staff grant access per apparatus after a researcher is trained, with an optional expiry. Untrained users cannot book it.
Behavior cores
Book testing rooms and apparatus, schedule multi-day protocols in one step, and export recharge data for every lab that uses your core.
Who it is for
Many behavioral testing cores still book rooms on a shared calendar, take requests by email, and collect usage on paper logs before building a monthly charge spreadsheet. ConductLaboratory puts the calendar, the training sign-off, the usage record, and the charge file in one place, for self-service sessions and staff-assisted testing.
What you can book
Add any resource your core shares. These are common examples.
Testing rooms
With their fixed apparatus and tracking computer
Morris water maze
Acquisition days, then a probe trial
Fear conditioning chambers
Training and test days in sequence
Operant chambers
Daily sessions, often for weeks
Open field arenas
Short sessions, cleaned between animals
Elevated plus maze
Single sessions in a quiet room
Rotarod
Training and test days
Acoustic startle and PPI
Chamber time per cohort
Video tracking workstations
Analysis time after testing
How it fits behavior work
Core staff grant access per apparatus after a researcher is trained, with an optional expiry. Untrained users cannot book it.
Repeat every day, every weekday, or every week. The series is booked only if every session is open, and any conflict names the day to move.
Require an animal protocol number, such as an IACUC number, on bookings for chosen apparatus. It appears on the booking and in the charge export.
Set how far ahead each resource must be booked, such as 24 hours, or a week to allow animal transfer and acclimation.
Block apparatus for deep cleaning, repairs, or calibration so nobody books over it.
Researchers check in and out from a phone or the room computer, which replaces the paper log.
Bill each person at the internal or external hourly rate you assign them.
Core
Completed sessions, grouped by paying account, in a CSV your business office can post.
Core
Invite researchers by email, or post one join link and approve each access request.
Paste your apparatus list from Excel or Google Sheets. Water mazes, fear conditioning chambers, holding rooms, and dozens more open with their usual rules.
Require approval per room or apparatus. A request holds the time until a manager approves or declines it.
Researchers get an email reminder about a day before each session.

Try it
Approve a fear conditioning request, check in to an open field session, and export the month's charges. No account needed.
Questions
Yes. Add the room and each apparatus as separate resources. Each one gets its own calendar, rates, and rules.
A series is booked only if every session is open. If any session collides with another booking, nothing is created and the message lists the dates to change.
Yes. Researchers book and check in for self-service sessions, and core staff can book on a researcher’s behalf. Both use the hourly rate assigned to that researcher.
Every booking asks for a paying account, such as a lab, grant, chartstring, or PO. It appears in the monthly charge export.
Yes. Scheduling does not connect to the apparatus itself, so any maze, chamber, or tracking workstation can be a bookable resource.
Planning the tests
ConductScience's free behavior core tools plan a test battery, schedule acclimation, check scoring reliability, build ethograms, and draft SOPs.
Start with a 30-day Core trial. Booking stays free after the trial.
